COVID-19 FAQs

Q: What can I do to help my neighbors in central New Jersey?

A: If you were able to be a part of last Sunday's service, you heard the big announcement about Boxes of Hope.  We are excited that many have volunteered to serve and to give.  We are actively spreading the Hope of Jesus in a tangible way to those impacted by the Coronavirus.  We encourage all who call Evangel home to be salt and light to those around us who are in need physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Q: How can I help with Boxes of Hope if I live in central NJ?

A: You can text the word SERVE to 908-325-5163.  If you wish to donate to help offset the costs, you can text the word GIVE to the same number.  If you or someone you know is ill from COVID-19, caring for a household member with COVID-19, or quarantined due to the virus, please encourage them to text the word HOPE to the same 908-325-5163.

Q: How can I learn more about Boxes of Hope if I live outside of central NJ?

A:  There are a number of partner churches around the country who have joined the Boxes of Hope initiative and we are encouraging other churches to consider joining as well.  There will be a nationwide website launching next week that will have all the information on how your church can join in.

Q: How can I do my part to support the vision of Evangel in this season?

A:  The church building is closed, but the vision of Changed Lives, Changing Communities is very much open.  You can help by attending our online services and continuing to engage with the Evangel Family.  You can pray for the church leaders, volunteers, staff and all who call Evangel home.  You can support through giving.

Q:  Do you have any recommendations for me as my pay has been impacted by COVID-19?

A:  We know these can be economically challenging times for many.  There are a number of good resources, including:

https://jobs.covid19.nj.gov/ and

https://myunemployment.nj.gov/

Q:  I am a member of the Evangel family with a particularly challenging need, is there a possibility that Evangel may be able to help?

A:  You may contact the church business office by emailing EvangelFamilyNeed@evangelchurch.com.

Q: What is Evangel doing to protect the staff and volunteers of Evangel who are involved in online services, facility maintenance and Boxes of Hope?

A:  We highly value the staff and volunteers of Evangel and we are so thankful for each and every one of you!  We are taking precautions and following government recommendations regarding meeting sizes, social distancing, etc.  We have also implemented a work from home policy to minimize physical interactions.

Q: Is Evangel laying off or reducing hours for staff?

A:  No.  The Evangel staff is doing an amazing job during these unprecedented times.  While contributions have declined during this season, there are no plans to reduce pay for any of the Evangel employees.

Q: How will I be updated on what is happening at Evangel?

A: The present condition in New Jersey is rapidly changing and we will be regularly monitoring developments closely.  For the most up to date information, please visit us

Q: How long will Sunday services only be available online?

A: Circumstances are changing rapidly in New Jersey, so it is hard to say with any certainty.  For now, it applies to this Sunday, 3/29.  We anticipate that it will be at least until Easter, but recognize that it could realistically extend beyond mid-April.  That said, we are praying that the Coronavirus will leave as quickly as it came.  For the most up to date information, please visit our website or social media platforms.

Q: What is the status of the weekly Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting?

A: Evangel is a body of believers that Prays Until Something Happens.  While we will not be meeting physically on Wednesdays until further notice, we will be uniting online for prayer.  We are working on creating an opportunity for interactive prayer during our Wednesday Prayer Meeting.  Stay tuned for more news about this in the coming days.

Q: How can I submit a prayer request or a praise report of what the Lord has done?

A: We are committed to praying now more than ever.  We pray until something happens.  The best way to submit a prayer request or praise report is to text it to 908-325-5163.
