ROOTED IN "KINDNESS"

5/13/18

CONVERSATION STARTERS

  • What is the kindest thing someone ever did for you?

  • What is the kindest thing you ever did for someone?

REFLECTING ON THE SERMON

Did Pastor Chris say anything that spoke to you during the sermon?
Where you challenged by anything?
What did you learn about peace that you previously did not know?

GOING DEEPER IN THE SCRIPTURE

Read Luke 10:25-37

  • The story of the Good Samaritan is one of the most powerful examples of kindness being expressed toward another person.

  • Who are the various characters in this parable? Why is the man who is traveling not given an identity?

  • How did the Samaritan show kindness to the man?

  • Who is my neighbor today?

Read Ephesians 4:17-32

  • Paul challenges the early church to walk counter to the ways of the world around them.  They are called to put on the new self and be transformed.

  • What are the things that Paul encourages the believers to stop doing?

  • What are the solutions that Paul lays out?

MAKE IT PERSONAL

  • There are really three circles that we are called to display kindness in: My outer circle (my neighbor), my inner circle (my family/closest friends), and my circle (my church). Which area is it easiest for you to show kindness?  Which area do you struggle with?  What hinders your ability to show kindness?  What are some practical ways that you share kindness with those in these circles?

LIVE IT OUT! ACT IT OUT!

  • The devil has come to kill, steal, and destroy.  Ultimately, he wants to steal your fruitfulness so that you will be ineffective for the kingdom.  What are the biggest killers of your kindness? Anger, Words, Unforgiveness?  Take time this week to kill the killers of your kindness so that you can bear the fruit God is calling you to bear.
